Challenge and solution

Key Challenge
To manage the specific and vastly different needs of its two key production areas at the time—the cotton ginning section and the industrial tomato processing section—in an integrated manner.
The Aritmos Solution
Implementation of the Sage X3 platform as a comprehensive management system, designed by Aritmos to unify and address the complexities of an agri-food group undergoing significant transformation and growth.
Implemented Functionalities
The project covered the Production, Finance, Logistics, Purchasing, and Sales modules, with specific configurations to control the cotton campaign and the industrial tomato process.
About ALGOSUR
Algosur is a leading Andalusian agri-food group in the research, production, and processing of high-value extensive crops. Its business model is based on vertical integration, from the production of cotton fiber and its by-products (seeds for animal feed) to its leadership in introducing new crops like quinoa and other superfoods through its subsidiary Granos y Semillas del Sur. Its commitment to R&D is embodied by its technology partner, Vitrosur Lab, for the production of in-vitro plants.

Problem areas

Separate management of the cotton and tomato sections
each with completely different business logics, campaigns, and control needs, lacking a unifying system.
Absence of a single system
to control major industrial investments (€26M in the tomato plant) and the new quinoa production.
Need to ensure secure and reliable data transmission
between its different factories and operational centers, which were geographically dispersed.

Impact on the business

Lack of a consolidated view of costs and profitability
hindering investment decisions and the group's overall strategy.
Risk in controlling the costs of new projects
and a lack of agility to manage growing operational complexity and crop diversification.
Difficulty operating as a cohesive group
with the risk of creating information silos that would slow down the transformation process.

Our solution

To support such an ambitious transformation plan, a robust and flexible technological solution was designed, capable of acting as the backbone of a diversified agri-food group:

Pillar 1: Specialized Multi-Divisional Management
Sage X3 was implemented to natively manage the two main business areas: cotton production (with its campaign and quality logic) and industrial processing (with its control over production, yields, and costs).
Pillar 2: A Single, Reliable Data Platform
All management was centralized into a single ERP, creating a reliable information repository. This allowed management to have a global and precise view to control significant investments and the profitability of each division.
Pillar 3: Inter-Plant Communications Infrastructure
Aritmos designed and implemented an inter-plant connection system using antennas and Wi-Fi, ensuring private, secure, and real-time data transmission between Algosur's different factories.

The transformation: before and after

Before (with the previous system)

Siloed Operations
Each division (cotton, tomato) was managed with separate logics and tools
Fragmented View of Costs
Difficulty in consolidating the true profitability of each business line.
Limited Inter-Center Communication
Reliance on standard communication systems for information transfer.

After (with Sage X3 and Aritmos)

Integrated and Centralized Management
A single platform to govern the operations of the group's different production areas.
360º View of Profitability
Precise control over production costs and investments, enabling a global financial analysis.
Total and Secure Connectivity
A private inter-plant network that ensures the fluency and security of data at all times.
